Eco-friendly N8 and C7 via Telefónica

Nokia and the mobile operator Telefónica come with a a new, innovative offer, which allows the users to make a greener choice when buying Nokia N8 and C7 devices.

The phones will not look different than the usual N8 and C7, they just come with an eco apps folder such as the educational game, Climate Mission, and other third-party apps, plus a link to the device’s eco-profile – Nokia’s full declaration of the environmental impact of each model.

The user’s guide is limited down to a single page, representing 95% saving in paper, and the packaging is also minimal, just as much as needed to protect the devices during the shipping, and it is 100% recyclable.

Both the phones come with a high-efficiency energy charger to reduce charging times – the devices also remind you to unplug when charging is finished.

Nokia N8 and Nokia C7 are two of Nokia’s most eco-friendly devices ever, both the phones feature an energy-saving mode, a power-efficient AMOLED screen and an ambient light sensor. The phones also are made of innovative materials, such as bio-plastics and bio-paints. Like all other Nokia phones they are free of PVC, BFR (brominated flame retardants) and RFR (chlorinated and brominated compounds and antimony trioxide).

This offer is part of Nokia’s and Telefónica’s “Green Customer Experience” cooperation. Both companies have been recognized by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as leaders in the field of sustainability: Nokia heads the technology sector whilst Telefónica leads the telecommunications sector.

The eco-friendly N8 and C7 will be first launched in Spain, where Telefonica offers services under the Movistar brand. The smartphones will also be avaialble in the UK (O2), Germany (O2), Argentina, Chile and Peru.
