BlackBerry is making a new slider?

Rumors leaked that RIM is going to launch a new Blackberry slider, which will be smaller and cheaper than the previous model – Torch 9800. Perhaps, the reason of this decision is the low sale rate of the BlackBerry Torch 9800.

According to BBleaks this new smartphone will be ”entry-level, which means that we could get it for less than $100 with a contract, of course. Moreover, considering tha fact that the Torch 9800 is itself $99.99 on contract at AT&T, we should expect the new phone for for something about $50.

No information is available about the technical specs of the future device, no word yet if the new slider will run BlackBerry OS 6 – although it should.

According to an unconfirmed information, the smartphone will get a SureType-keyboard instead of a QWERTY one, it could look like the mockup seen above.

We should remind, that BlackBerry Torch 9800 was announced yet back in August. It’s a slider with a QWERTY-keyboard.

And despite all the efforts of RIM, the smartphone is not in a high demand even after reducing the cost.
