RIM announces BlackBerry Pearl 3G and Bold 9650

RIM has just unveiled two new BlackBerry smartphones, full and official announcement of which can take place in coming days at the WES conferance. BlackBerry Pearl 3G is equipped with a hybrid keyboard SureType, and the BlackBerry Bold 9650 – QWERTY keyboard. Both models feature an optical trackpad (instead of trackball), 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS-receiver and a wireless adapter, Wi-Fi.

The devices support different cellular standards. BlackBerry Pearl 3G will be available only to GSM users and the BlackBerry Bold 9650 in both – GSM and CDMA networks. Also, Pearl 3G supports the latest Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n standard, while the Bold 9650 relies on the previous b/g one.

BlackBerry Bold 9650 will be released by the U.S. operator Sprint in May (instead of previously reported  Verizon Wireless) and the BlackBerry Pearl 3G will be sold in Canada by Bell, Telus and Rogers, the exact dates of releases are not specified, it is not clear, and then, when the device will be released in the U.S.

The Pearl 3G supports the latest Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n standard, while the Bold 9650 relies on the previous b/g one.
