Disney Android Phone in Japan

Disney Mobile, which operates as an MVNO in Japan, announced the release of its first smartphone next month. The smartphone runs Android 2.2 Froyo and seems to be a Disney-branded version of the Sharp 003SH.

The Disney Android phone will feature a 3.8 inch WVGA 3D touchscreen display, 9.6MP camera, HD video recording, 1GHz processor, and exclusive Disney content and services. The users will get a *@disney.ne.jp MMS address and original home screens, apps, widgets, and emoticons.

Disney Mobile will also offer optional Disney-themed cases (see bellow) for the device. The price of the smartphone has not been announced yet.

X8 – the most unusual clone of the iPhone 4

Apple iPhone is the most often ”cloned” phone by Chinese manufacturers. We have seen many of them, but the X8 claims to be the most original.

The Chinese fake iPhone 4 is a clamshell with QWERTY keyboard. The upper part of the ”iPhone 4” is fixed on hinges and can be rotated in several directions.

Like most of the modern Chinese ”masterpieces” this device too features a 3,2″ touch screen, two cameras with low resolution, two-slots for SIM cards, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi.

The price is low – 600 yuan or approximately $90.

Sagem COSY Phone with NFC Technology launched

Sagem Wireless announced the commercial launch of its COSY Phone. The COSY Phone is a standard bar phone, which embeds the NFC (Near Field Communications) technology.

NFC enables users to access features and content without navigating through menus on the handset. When users scan an NFC tag they can initiate calls or texts, open applications and receive content without taking extra actions.

Furthermore, these tags can be customized by users to perform a certain action, or they can be used in commercial applications for access and data capture.

“We approach the design and development process looking at both market needs and a strategy that makes the most of available technologies. NFC is a perfect example of a technology which, when used intelligently and creatively, can deliver real usability benefits that transform the mobile experience,” said Jerome Nadel, EVP Marketing & User Experience, Sagem Wireless.

“The COSY Phone leverages the capabilities of NFC to improve usability for personal use while enabling a growing ecosystem of business applications,” added Nadel.

The phone is equipped with 2.2-inch screen with 240×320 pixels resolution and numeric keypad. The handset supports both 2G and 3G networks.

Other key features of the COSY Phone include: 128 MB internal memory, microSDHC card slot, 1,3-megapixel camera, FM-radio, Bluetooth with 2.1 EDR support, integrated Myriad 7.2.7 browser e.t.c. The phone’s battery provides up to 270 minutes of talk-time and 10 days in stand-by mode. The dimensions of the device are 112×49, 3×12, 99 mm, it weighs 95 grams.

The COSY Phone is now available in France via several operators and mobile retailers, and will hit the UK and Ireland later this month.

Lenovo i350 music phone announced

Lenovo Mobile has announced its music phone Lenovo i350. The compact monoblock is equipped with a 2.4 inch display with 320×240 pixels resolution, 2-megapixel camera, which can be used as a webcam, Bluetooth, microSD slot (up to 8 GB), 800 mAh battery. The dimensions of the phone are 114x49x9.7 mm, the weight – 90g. The phone is available in several bright color versions.

Lenovo i350 is targeted for the Chinese market and most likely will not be available outside China.

It’s a pity, cause the phone looks very attractive.

All four SIM cards can be active simultaneously. This device is designed in style of Blackberry smartphones: besides the similar QWERTY keyboard, the phone has an interface like the Blackberry.

A ”funny” music phone appeared on the Indian market – Airfone AF202. The phone is unique, though it has standard set of technical specs and more than an ordinary appearance. The uniqueness of this device is claimed by the fact that the phone is equipped with two headphone outputs. This means that the device is targeted for s specific audience – couples – who else may be interested in tangling with a wire listening to music ? Or watching a movie, since the device supports 3gp, MP4, Realplay MP5 video playback.

I must say, that the manufacturer has been so consistent, that equipped the device with two slots for SIM cards, and, of course, two headsets are included in the package.

Good news for camera phone fans . Altek has announced that its 14-megapixel camera phone with optical zoom, which runs Android, enters the European market.The device also records Hd videos.

Altek Leo is the first camera phone equipped with a 14-megapixel digital camera with 3x optical zoom and HD-video recording. Also, the device is equipped with Xenon flash and LED backlight for movies.

Facebook phone?

Rumors leaked that Facebook is planning to develop a mobile phone under its own brand. Facebook will sign a contract with a manufacturer, which will be responsible for thehardware and the social network itself will be responsible for the software.
And, of course, the phone will offer integration with Facebook, up to the feature, that calls will be done from the Facebook account, and not from the phone number.

According to the source, the ”Facebook phone” could compete with such models as Google Nexus One and Apple iPhone.

Currently the project is still an early stage, and the release time is unknown.

As for the phone manufacturer, it may be, for example, INQ or HTC.

However, as Facebook commented, they doesn’t work on a phone of their brand, although they are working on closer integration of its software with mobile phones.

For example, already exists INQ1 phone with enhanced support for the social network, which is sometimes even called a Facebook Phone.

sWap Nova – The World’s Smallest Phone

An unusual phone has been introduced during the IFA 2010 in Berlin – sWap Nova. The phone is extremely compact, so that it can even be used as a key chain. Huawei Ideos Announced Officially

Huawei has just officially announced its new phone Ideos, their first smartphone runing Android 2.2. Some live pics of the device are already available, along with an official promotional video.

The Huawei Ideos is not a high end device by any stretch of the imagination, but aims to cater to the low end of the smartphone market, where not many Android-powered offerings have gone before.

Dell Aero released in the US for $99

The first smartphone from Dell runing Android OSfinally went on sale in the USA. The Dell Aero is available for purchase via AT&T for $99 with a 2 year contract and $299 – without it. Unfortunately, in August 2010, when there are already several models based on Android 2.2 available, Dell allowed itself to release a device based on an outdated version of OS – Android 1.5.

Dell Aero is a candybar with 3.5-inch touch screen, covered with a durable Gorilla Glass and non-standart resolution for Android – 640×360 pixels.

Judging from the official photos, the handset looks rather elegant and will probably find its fans, despite the old version of the software platform – thanks to the attractive price.

Dell Thunder – Photos and Video

Some photos of the Dell smartphone, known as Dell Thunder, have leaked in the web.

The flagman smartphone runs Android 2.1 OS, and uses Dell Stage interface.

Screen resolution is purportedly 800 x 480, though judging by that 7 x 4 icon grid up there and our tipster’s own experience, it could be even higher; the 4.1-inch display looks to indeed be of the OLED variety. The device is equipped with an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash on the back — which includes 720p video capture capabilities — along with a removable 1,400mAh battery.

The handset is also equipped with 8 GB flash memory, MicroSD slot, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS, proximity switches, and light, accelerometer, FM-. The release of the smartphone is expected later this year. The cost of the device has not been announced.

Light Pool: A New Designer Phone via KDDI

Japan’s second biggest cell phone carrier KDDI introduced a new mobile phone from its designer series iida called LIGHT POOL. Technically, the device isn’t anything special – but it’s rather pretty. Like most of fashion mobile produced by KDDI this one is simple, without anything superfluous… Regarding the design it has been made by a Japanese designer called Tsuboi Hironao.

The Light Pool is called this way as it’s equipped with a total of 22 LEDs that start lighting up in up to 100 patterns, for example when you get a call or an email arrives. Spec-wise, buyers can expect a 3.2-inch VGA TFT display, an 8MP CMOS camera with auto-focus, Bluetooth, a microSD/SDHC slot, and GPS.

Puma Phone Available in Europe

As you may remember, Puma introduced a mobile phone under its own brand earlier this year.The manufacturer of the Puma Phone was the company Sagem Wireless. And now this phone is available for sale in european market.

Puma phone is rather a simple touchphone with a rounded case.It is equipped with 2.8-inch touch screen, 3.2-megapixel camera, FM-radio and GPS-receiver.

Among the special features, it’s worth to mention the pedometer, stopwatch, digital compass, a solar panel and a number of sport applications.

By the way, Puma is already thinking about launching a new model under it’s brand, which will likely be an Android-smartphone and will come in 2011. Meanawhile, you can buy the first Puma phone. This ”sportsmen dream” costs 299 euros in the Italian MVNO PosteMobile.

According to the Chinese website Chinavasion, Penthouse is the world’s smallest “super-mobile” phone.

Phone is equipped with 1.5-inch touch screen and supports quadband GSM. The device has two slots for SIM cards – a traditional feature of Chinese handsets. In addition, the device supports Bluetooth technology and can serve as a “full-fledged multimedia center.”, which means the presence of digital camera, an application for photo viewing, video recording and video player, as well as audio recording, music player and FM-radio. Other features include a calculator, calendar and alarm clock.

The estimated price of the Chinese “super-phone” is $ 113.

Fujitsu F-06B – 13.2Mpix phone

The Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo announced a new phone Fujitsu F-06B, capable to record full HD (1920 x 1080) Video. This device is equipped with a 13.2Mpix CMOS camera with a maximum value of light sensitivity (ISO) at 25 600.

The model is waterproof, and can also shoot video up to 1.5m depth (under water)

The phone also has a 3,5″ display with a 480×854 pixels resolution, another camera for video calls, Wi-Fi module and GPS, memory card slot. The device is designed to support GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA networks.

The new products will be offered to NTT DoCoMo’s customers and is unlikely to get outside of Japan.
