Here’s another contender: the HTC Pico. Judging from the name, this is a small device, at least smaller than HTC’s usual high-end devices.

XDA.cn has published the photos of the device alongside the phone’s main specs. There are only 2 photos available, but it’s enough for HTC fans to get a nice feel for the phone.

On the inside the phone basically copies the the Wildfire S, and there are minor differences between these ”twin phones”. The main thing, that is changed, is the overall aspect of the phone. it’s also possible that the Pico will come with interchangeable covers of some sort, which may explain the color it’s pictured in above.

Like the Wildfire S, the Pico is also powered with a Qualcomm MSM7227 600 MHz processor and has a 5 MP camera. And though according to the leaked specsheet, the handset has a LED Flash, in the photos above there doesn’t seem to be one, or the flash may just be so well integrated into the camera unit that it’s not easily visible from the angle of the leaked photos. Anyway, this could be another difference compared to the Wildfire S which does come with the LED flash.The Pico has 384 MB of RAM, which is less than  Wildfire S’s 512 MB. The displays are identical – 3.2 inches diagonally and having a 480×320 resolution. The battery is also the same – same 1230 mAh. The Pico also has Wi-Fi, HSPA, Bluetooth, and GPS, not surprising in this day and age.

The device supports HSPA(900/2100) networks, which means it’s headed to Europe, or at least this specific variation is.
The handset may be released as Pico, or it may just turn out to be a codename that won’t see the light of day. It’s unclear at this moment.

The HTC Pico will run Android Gingerbread and will come with HTC Sense Zero, which may or may not be a stripped down version of the Taiwanese company’s ubiquitous Android UI overlay.If it does turn out to be just that, we’ll make all the appropriate jokes about how HTC finally realized how bloated Sense had become at the appropriate time.

No other details are available about this device right now, so we don’t know when it will be launched and how much it will cost.

Back on wheels now, Windows 7 phone powers some of the most sophisticated smartphones like Samsung Omnia , LG Optimus 7, HTC 7 Trophy and many others, with the HTC Arrive being the latest star of the industry. Wearing the HTC moniker, Arrive marks Microsoft’s return and Sprint’s incursion into the CDMA universe, and fills the slot of the long-awaited successor to the HTC Touch Pro 2 in Sprint’s lineup. Strictly a 3Gdevice, the phone has recently hit the showrooms and is yet to leave it impression in the highly volatile and demanding smartphone market. Will this new kid survive the battle of the fittest, read on to know what HTC Arrive has to offer to its buyers.

Design

HTC Arrive isn’t much of a delight as for the design of the phone is concerned. Nevertheless it manages to keep our interests with its subtle curves and streamlined design and its gray metal and soft-touch plastic body. The power button takes the top place like always with the volume controller on the left side accompanied by the microUSBPort. The camera and flash have been pushed to back side while a metal battery door adds a nice feel. The front exhibits the standard Back, Menu, and Search buttons, very typical of all Windows Phone 7 phones. The camera button is placed on the bottom right side of the phone, which could have been worked over. Also, the owners will have to do with the 16GB built-in storage only as there is no card slot for expanding the phone’s memory. The phone stays bulky, credits the slide out keyboard, with the phone weighing a total of 185g (6.5oz). Also measuring 4.63-by-2.32 -by-0.61 inches, Arrive is definitely a piece not easily slithering in your pockets.

QWERTY keyboard

Arrive’s QWERTY is very much a standard 5-row keyboard found on many HTCs. When slid out, a small spring pops the screen up for a better angle. The keys are too flat, barely standing out from the surface, but have been evenly placed with enough distance between them. The backlit buttons are smooth and very receptive while the extra dedicated buttons like the dollar and pound sign and emoticons and diacritical marks add more fun to texting and mailing.

Camera

The HTC Arrive will be able to capture your valuable moments perfectly with its 5 MP camera and an LED flash. It is also capable of recording videos up to 720p resolution at 30fps as well allows focusing on objects to around two inches (5cm). The camera button can also snap photos fast, when phone is in the locked mode.

Software

HTC Arrive as has been discussed so far runs Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7. Both Sprint and HTC have preloaded their hubs on to the phone. We have recently reviewed the HTC Trophy. Well, HTC 7 Mozart is pretty similar to HTC trophy in terms of its dimensions. It measures 119 x 60.2 x 11.9 mm. The layout of the screen, keys and ear-piece have been optimally placed so as to reduce the wastage of space. This is the main reason for the HTC 7 Mozart to look compact. As mentioned earlier, the sleek aluminium body is what makes Mozart to stand out from its competitors, and to our astonishment, Mozart was 10gms lighter than the Plastic bodied HTC Trophy.

The phone is very comfortable to handle, and the material used for the body is a blend of aluminium and high quality matte plastic. The front panel is almost the same as other HTC phones where the majority of the portion is taken by the screen. The rear panel is something HTC has tried to make it distinct from other typical HTC phones. Mozart has its front panel wrapped around on the left side to give the feeling of a unibody construction. The battery cover is placed at the rear bottom. The inclusion of matte plastic and the aluminium parts makes the frame resistant to fingerprints.

Like in all typical HTC phones, Mozart features 3 keys – back, start and search at the bottom of the screen. The top of the frame features a LED status indicator and also an ear piece.

On the left you find the volume rocker keys and a microUSB port and on the right hand side you find the camera shutter key. At the top, you tend to find the 3.5mm audio jack placed far away from the power/screen lock key. The bottom of the phone features a mouthpiece.

Ok, so let’s flip the phone back, and here comes the differentiation factor, well, ‘m not talking about the loudspeaker grill, but the 8 megapixel camera supported by a xenon flash.

Hardware

In addition to the camera and the flash support, Mozart sports a 1 GHz Snapdragon chipset along with a 3.7 inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen. So let’s start exploring the packaging box.

The Box

Mozart’s packaging and the accessories have maintained their standards upto the expectations. Your phone is provided with an USB charger, one- piece headset with music controls. It also comes with a microUSB cable and the user guide for those first time users on both paper copy and a disc.

Display:

Mozart sports a 3.7 inch screen with screen sensitivity, the response being great and silky smooth with an amazing performance. The display is brighter compared to other HTC phones and also the legibility issue are also favourable. I would really thank HTC for chipping in a better screen as compared to the other phones in the family. But the glossy front requires regular cleaning as it is not resistant to finger prints.

Camera:

The 8 MP autofocus camera snaps photos with a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. The camera shutter key is capable of starting the camera with a single press. This button is also used to unlock the phone, but developers have made sure that any accident triggering of the button (like inside a purse and pocket) will not start the camera. There is also an option provided for flicker adjustment, metering mode, scene presets and also changing of resolution.

On the other side, Mozart has fared poorly in terms of image quality in comparison with the phones featuring an 8 MP camera. The images from Mozart are less in detail and are quite soft. The pre processing also fails in proper white balancing which in turn ends up with an image with a bluish tint.

Connectivity:

HTC 7 Mozart is supported by a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE technology and a dual-band 3G with HSPA, with the downlink being 7.2Mbps and uplink being 2Mbps. This caters to international and national connectivity.

The local connectivity is covered by Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP. Well, as in other WP7 phones, Mozart also does not support Bluetooth file transfer.

Battery:

What if a phone is loaded with amazing applications, and excellent user interface, it is the battery that matters for it to be a success. Mozart is powered by a 1300 mAh Li-Ion unit and is said to support 435 hours of standyby and 5.5 hours of talk time.

Software

HTC 7 Mozart retains the same user interface feel as in other HTC phones. I would rather say we tend to see the same live tiles and same homescreen. So let us just look at each of this in detail.

User interface

HTC 7 Mozart is mainly composed of two main parts – a homescreen and main menu. As in all other HTC window phones, the homescreen corresponds to a grid of live tiles. These live tiles are equivalent to the shortcuts in the homescreen.

On the other hand, the main menu is a traditional list – a platform where all the installed apps and hubs are listed in alphabetical order. This would mean, the number of applications installed is directly proportional to the length of the list. The items on this list can be pinned to the homescreen by just pressing and holding the item for about, say 1 second.

The user interface also lacks multitasking, and applications running on the background tend to suspend when the phone screen is locked. However there is an option to allow for it to run. But most of the times the app or the game is restarted.

Default apps

HTC 7 Mozart is bombarded with a variety of apps which includes connection setup, Sound enhancer and photo enhancer.

Calendar

The windows phone 7 calendar app is loaded with extra features than compared to a normal calendar app found in other phones. It also lets you add an appointment with ease. The app also supports multiple alarms, each with its own name, ringing sound and repeat pattern.

Calculator

The calculator app is also loaded with unique capabilities. This app features big buttons and favours for those having fat and chubby fingers. Tilting the phone to its right would activate hexadecimal input and tilting to its left corresponds to trigonometry and logarithmic inputs.

Zune Player

The Zune media player acts as iTunes for your iPhone. The Zune software installed in a PC is required to synchronise and other files with the phone. And I can say, this is the only way to get your media content into your phone library.

Browsers

The default browser in HTC 7 Mozart used is the Internet explorer. Having said that, it does not refer to the fact that, it is prone to many problems. Well, it definitely makes you think twice before purchasing a tab.

The browser is capable of rendering page quickly and also provides the option of panning and scrolling. Zooming of a particular section of the screen requires you to double tap on the screen and pinching in or out depending on whether the task is to zoom in or zoom out.

The browser is very elegant and can handle upto 6 tabs at a moment. There is also an option for bookmarks, adding to favourites and managing history. But the browser fails to score when it comes to flash enabled websites. It also has issues on saving a particular webpage. The YouTube app support is minimal and the icon is just treated as a bookmark rather than an application itself.

Well, HTC 7 Mozart has undoubtedly proved to be a stylish gadget and one of its kind with a unibody chassis. The hardware configuration and placement of key seemed to be perfect without any flaws. The screen quality is also a plus point which gives a better legibility and a crisper look. But it has failed to impress in terms of performance in the camera unit and the poor xenon flash has been a total let down. LG Optimus 2x has an ARM Cortex-A9 1 GHZ dual-core processor, while the HTC 7 Pro gives you 1GHz Scorpion processor. Optimus 2x offers Tegra 2 chipset combined with ULP GeForce GPU, which makes it one of the fastest phones available in the world. HTC 7 Pro offers Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon chipset combined with Adreno 200 GPU.

As for the memory, Optimus 2x is equipped with 8 GB and 512 MB RAM as to internal memory and up to 32GB additional memory through microSD while HTc 7 Pro has 8/16 GB, 448 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM and have no card slot.

HTC 7 Pro has been released about a month ago and is already available, while the LG Optimus 2x is expected to released this month.

The second upcoming HTC smartphone appears with both HTC’s, and Verizon’s logo on it. Judjing from the pic it has no hardware buttons. I think, it looks like a Droid incredible, don’t you?

And the last leaked device, which seems to be the successor of the Brew-based HTC Smart, will most likely be called HTC Smart2.

Microsoft have covered the recent release of their new mobile phone OS, well in pretty much nothing to be honest. It’s been one of them, where everyone seems to know what’s going on, and if you had paid any attention to it then you would have noticed that they are having a group of five specially made phones released that they can launch their OS on. You compare this to HTC Mozart handset and the only difference is that the HD7 has a massive 109mm HD display. The Mozart, has HD video recording, throw in there an 8MP camera, and virtual surround sound then you have the makings of a very good handset which let’s be honest wipes the floor with the likes of the HD7.

If though, you were seemingly unimpressed with the previous version of Windows Mobile then this new version of the Microsoft OS is nothing like the previous version of the OS with many new updates compared to the previous version. The main one is the app store. Having been a large disappointment on the previous version it is now growing, and rapidly reaching over 2000 apps and in a very short space of time. There is also a very good selection of Xbox Live games available right at your fingertips, and another feature that is available is that you can access all your games on another phone if you log in with your Xbox Live account on that handset.

Already there’s talk, however, of it being some sort of HTC tablet or MID, or at least a large-screen device with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

We should remind, that earlier HTC released HTC UMPC shift, runing Windows Vista Business OS and equipped with a QWERTY-keyboard.

HTC paradise runs one of the latest versions of Android OS and supports HTC Sense UI. It is equipped with Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, microSDHC memory cards, 3,2 Mpx camera, 3.2” touchscreen. The device supports 3G networks.

It’s not known yet when will the Paradise be available for sale, but, I guess, we won’t have to wait long. The price is also unknown, but, I think, it’ll be affordable.

The device supports GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz and CDMA EV-DO Rev. A 800/1900 MHz networks, is equipped with a 4.3-inch capacitive touch screen with 480×800 pixels resolution, 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, 576 MB RAM, 512 MB of internal memory and a slot for MicroSD/MicroSDHC cards.

The pricing and availability of HTC T9199 Oboe dual-mode smartphone on other market is unknown at moment.

The smartphone’s name has just pupped up on the said HTCSense.com online destination, where it can be seen next to the already made official HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z.

Not much is known about this new smartphone and there are no photos leaked,  so we can just suggest what it will be all about.
Most likely it will not take too long before HTC decides to make the Mecha official.

Anyways, we should wait for more info to be able to say anything, especially since even the image used for Mecha on HTCSense.com seems to be pointing to another device (the older Hero).

It is not clear yet if it’s the code name or  the commercial name. Not much is known about the technical specs of this phone: we know that HTC Knight has a 3.7-inch touchscreen and a QWERTY-keyboard, it may be a slider.

According to some sources it may be the CDMA-version of HTC Desire Z, which was announced for the European and Asian markets.

The smartphone HTC HD7 appearance and specs are similar to one-year old model based on Windows Mobile 6.5. HTC 7 Mozart has 3.7 inch screen, 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and Xenon flash. The display size is 3.8 “, the smartphone has a 5 megapixel camera.

HTC 7 Pro is a slider and is equipped with the smallest screen among the announced devices – 3.6”. The smartphone is equipped with 16 GB of internal memory and 5 MPx camera.

The HTC Merge has not been announced yet, but we offer an informal comparision of merge and Droid 2 (known as Milestone 2 in Europe).

We should remind that HTC Mozart is a monoblock equipped with a 3.7 inch touch screen, 1 GHz processor and an 8 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording.

In addition, the new device supports Surround sound, Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi modules.

The Price of the smartphone is not reported, but wait for the official announcement. It’s not so far.

New specifications were not added to the devices, but there are new color versions. HTC Desire will now shine in snow-white. This is the third color solution of the Desire after silver and brown.

HTC Legend also received a new color – Phantom Black.

White HTC Desire and Black HTC Legend will be on sale in Europe later this month.

Commentators noted the excellent performance of the sliding QWERTY-keyboard, the support of not only CDMA, but also GSM networks, for which there is a separate slot for a SIM-card. The prototype runs Android 2.2. The default search engine is the Bing.

Among the technical features we should note the 3,7″ Super LCD display, 5 megapixel camera with HD-video recording, 800 MHz processor, 1.3 GB of internal memory, approximately 363 MB of user available memory, microSD slot and port microUSB.

In general, HTC Merge, its design, size and performance left a positive impression on the staff of Android Central. However, they suppose that some features and the name of the smartphone may be changed untill the realease.

The device runs Windows Phone 7 and has not been officially announced yet. Like most HTC smartphones, this one looks attractive too.

HTC Mondrian features a WVGAtouch screen, 3.5-mm audio jack, a digital camera with flash and 1 GHz processor. More details about the techical specs of the phone will be available after the official announcement.

It is expected that HTC Mondrian will be officially unveiled next month. But nothing is known when it will go on sale and how much it will cost.

It is expected that the device will be announced on 11 October in London during the presentation by Microsoft.

No one can tell about the product better than its developer, so we offer to get acquainted with HTC Desire HD and the updated interface through the official demo video lasting about 7 minutes.

Fortunately, some “live” photos leaked, where you can see the engraved name – HTC HD3. However, it remains unclear why the device appears as HTC HD7 in the catalogs of some mobile operators.

Whatever it is named, we will have a candybar with 4.3″ touch screen with 800×480 pixels resolution, 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor,  8 GB internal memory, 5-megapixel camera with dual LED-flash and 720p HD-video recording.

The metal insert around the camera is not only a decorative part, but also serves as a base. The back side is made of metal. HTC HD3/HD7 isn’t supposed to be a light one.

In these photo you can see the large screen and Verizon’s logo. According to rumors, the phone is equipped with a QWERTY-keyboard.

The first photos of HTC Mozart leaked over a month ago. The smartphone is also known as HTC Schubert. The device is expected to be released in October.

As reported earlier, HTC HD7 will be available in the UK on October 18.

HTC Desire HD is based on SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 1 GHzprocessor, with power saving mode and a new Andreno 205 graphic processor. The phone supports wireless data transmission technology HSPA.

The second new phone, HTC Desire Z, is an Android-smartphone with a QWERTY-keyboard. It is based on the  MSM7230 800 MHz processor (Qualcomm Scorpion ARMv7). The device captures with a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. The smartphone is equipped with a 3,7″ SLCD with 800×480 pixels resolution.

Both the innovations are made of aluminum and support HTCSense.

The first rumors about this phone leaked yet back in 2009. It was known that the Trophy will run Windows Mobile 6.5, will be equipped with a QWERTY-keyboard, 3″ screen with a 640×480 pixels resolution, Qualcomm MSM7227 600 MHz processor, 256 MB of RAM and a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus.

Maybe, HTC has decided to hold the smartphone untill the release of Windows Phone 7 and adapt it for this OS.

HTC Wildfire will be available in Europe and Asia starting the third quarter of the year. Its price was not announced, but if HTC wants the smartphone to be successful among young users, it should make it cheaper than, say, the HTC Legend.

On top of the phone’s price there will be an additional required $10 monthly “premium data add-on plan”, which will encompass unlimited 4G/3G usage as well as Qik’s new two-way video chat service. The video chat is not a huge surprise given the forward-facing camera on the EVO 4G, but it’s such a new concept in the US that it can be hard to believe it’s actually happening. It’s also nice to hear that video chat will be available over both 4G and 3G networks.

Initially, Apple said HTC infringed 20 of its patents, and now HTC fights back, saying that it’s actually Apple that infringes some of its patents – 5 of them, more exactly. HTC demands from ITC (International Trade Commission) to “halt the importation and sale” of iPad tablets, iPhones and iPod players in the USA.

HTC’s five patents included in the new complaint are:

• Patent #6,999,800 – “method for power management of a smartphone”
• Patent #5,541,988 – “telephone dialer with a personalized page organization of telephone directory memory”
• Patent #6,058,183 – “telephone dialer with a personalized page organization of telephone directory memory”
• Patent #6,320,957 – “telephone dialer with easy access memory”
• Patent #7,716,505 – “power control methods for a portable electronic device”

“We did this to protect our intellectual property, our partners and, the most important, our customers», – said the vice-president of the American branch of HTC Jason McKenzie.

The lawsuit is based on the unveiling by HTC of its MyTouch 3G mobile phones, which Klausner Technologies claims alleges uses its patented Visual Voicemail technology. However, not all of HTC’s smartphones that use Visual Voicemail in the US are involved. For example, HTC devices launched via Verizon (like the Droid Incredible) can use the technology, based on the fact that Verizon signed an agreement with Klausner yet back in 2008.

Klausner filed the suit against HTC in the Eastern District of Texas. The company says that it currently licenses its Visual Voicemail technology to 27 companies (phone makers, mobile operators and cable/VOIP providers) in the US, Europe and Asia.

HTC has not yet commented on Klausner Technologies’s claim.
